Dawn on the 13th February 2010, Soldiers disembark from Chinooks in the area of Operations - Helmind Province. The Regiments involved: The 1st Royal Welsh, 1st Grenadier Guards Battle Group, Scots Guards, US Marine Corps and various ISAF controlled units. ANA and ANP.


Breaking the Line at the Battle of Trafalgar by Graeme Lothian

At 12.30pm on the 21st of October 1805, Admiral Lord Nelson on board his flagship, HMS Victory, breaks the line of the combined French and Spanish fleets. The Victory is delivering a devastating stern rake to the 80 gun French ship Bucentaure, the flagship of the combined fleets, commanded by Vice-Admiral P. C. J. B. S. Villeneuve. Starboard to the Victory is the 74 gun Redoutable. This ship, the Victory and HMS Temeraire, seen left, became locked together soon after, the unequal exchange resulting in the Redoutable having the highest casualties during the entire battle.

This painting shows all the elements that make up a support brigade, in this case 101. The role of the support brigade is to receive both troops and equipment into theatre and organise their onward movement. They logistically sustain the fighting formations on the front line. This unit's badge is the 'Blackadder' snake after the television comedy programme.

The Thames Looking Towards St Pauls by Graeme Lothian.

Seen from the Royal Festival Hall the Oxo Tower stands on the South Bank. On the north side can be seen St Pauls Cathedral, which was finished in 1710. Also Sion College and HMS President. Pleasure craft and working boats continuously make their way up and down the Thames which is tidal. In front of the Oxo Tower during the summer weekends , when the tide is out, hundreds of people gather to picnic or kick a ball around.
